Dad has just been singing God of Wonders. Even being weak and heavily medicated Dad can raise his praises to GOD. Sweet is the word mumbled from his mouth. Boy how we all love him and cry as the words were sung. It has been a good day. We will be taking Mom out for dinner tonight and spend New Years Eve with him. He has definitely made some progresstoday but continues to be very tired and mediticated. Please continue to pray for more healing and comfort for those of us who have to return to work on Tuesday. Tomorrow we will watch the Wolverines in the Rose Bowl:)

Sunday 1 o'clock
Mel continues to be extremely tired. Rest is most important at this time. Mel did feed himself this noon and it seems as though his favorite food is mashed potatoes. With the aid of 2 therapist and Rose he stood along side the bed this morning. Please continue to pray for strength and patience as they journey down this road of recovery.
Thank you for all your prayers.

Saturday update on Dad
Today is Saturday, Dad is still very tired. He is in that peak swelling period of day 2 to 5. Our first impression is that he has stepped backwards, but the doctor said this is very common do the peak swelling. He is working very hard with both speech and physical therapy. Keep fighting is his common words. He was able to push myself out of bed and lean against a cane using his very weak left side. He is feeding myself very slowly but quite neatly:) Mom,Lori,Jarod and myself will be performing more physical therapy with him today. We are hoping he will have strength to listen to the Hope game this afternoon. Please continue to prayer for healing and miracles. Dad has had such an inner peace though all of this. God is right there by our side.

Mel seems to be resting better this evening. The doctor was in around 10:30 p.m. and was pleased with how things are progressing. Prayers are needed that there will be a bed available at Freedom Village so that he can be transferred there probably on Tuesday, January 2nd. Pray for strength for the entire family as they travel down this road. Mel's appetite is good and he is feeding himself. Thank you for all your prayers and continue to pray for him and the entire family. By the way January 2nd is Mel's birthday.

Welcome to the blog that we have set up for updates on Mel. As you all know Mel had a brain tumor removed on Wednesday, December 27. He is a patient at Holland Hospital. The doctor was able to remove 90% of the tumor. Mel currently has weakness on his left side. He is able to move his toes but at this time is unable to move his arm. He is extremely tired and is need of much rest. The family ask that you pray for strength, not only for him but for Rose as she is getting weary from the long hours she is spending at the hospital. The doctor is expecting that Mel will be in the hospital for around 4 days and then need to go to hopefully Freedom Village for some rehabilitation. They are waiting for the final reports from the lab at which time further treatment will be decided.
